is hiring for an Accounting Clerk

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Performs a range of clerical accounting support functions including using specialized ledgers and accounting software to record and process receipts, expenditures and other financial transactions.

Responsibilities

MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Enter financial data in computer system using defined computer programs.
  • Update, verify and maintain accounting journals, ledgers and other financial records.
  • Track deposits made to bank and handle deposit transfers.
  • Monitor customer accounts for non-payment and delayed payment.
  • Sort, verify and code invoices and check requests for accounts payable entry.
  • Complete intermediate account reconciliations.
  • Perform complex account analysis.
  • Assemble financial data for external audits/exams and statutory reporting.
  • Assist with budget preparation, cost analysis and research projects.
  • Assist with other accounting projects as needed.

Qualifications

EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum Requirements: Two year Accounting Degree with 12 months accounting experience.

Preferred: Four year Bachelor's degree with emphasis on accounting

SPECIFIC SKILLS REQUIRED:

 

 

◦Solid understanding of accounting terminology and functions.

◦Ability to read and interpret detailed general ledger accounts.

◦Ability to use Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook to set up complex worksheets, compose correspondence, perform data entry and print reports.

◦Ability to read and interpret instructions, policies and procedures.

◦Good verbal and written communications skills.

◦Ability to focus on details, meet deadlines and manage time.

◦Ability to identify and resolve practical problems in a timely manner.

◦Ability to prioritize and plan work activities.

◦Ability to lift and/or move materials weighing up to 10 lbs., and occasionally up to 25 lbs.
